Air Wick, in celebration of the Life Scent’s Holiday collection is launching the Give The Gift of Home Campaign. Air wick will donate $250,000 to benefit families in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. They have also created a very touching video (which you can watch it below). This video is a tribute to families all over and how we can come closer together through the power of scent. The video definitely pulls at the heart strings, I teared up a little and laughed too while listening to the stories.
Every home tells a story and those memories can be triggered through scent. I grew up in my Grammie’s (maternal) house, and at 35 some smells still make me feel like a kid living at her house. Around thanksgiving triggers the most memories for me, memories of family and togetherness. The smell of her sweet potato pie cooking is the most epic smell ever and I can actually visualize my sisters and I running around the house and my Grammie fussing at us, because there is a cake cooking and we are going to make it fall. I can smell the cakes and pies right now as I write about it. Then once all done, we would eat and laugh and lay around because we are so full we cant move.
Occasionally in my own home, I smell my Grammie’s house, and it sometimes startles me, because I have to look around and remember where I am. I may be cooking or doing laundry and the smell of the laundry or what I’m cooking reminds me of her, and I think it is because she tought me how to do these things.
I got the chance to try out 2 of the Air Wick Life Scents collection. I got the Spiced Apple Crumble and the Emerald Woodland which both smell amazing. Immediately upon opening the Emerald Woodland, it made me think of my late grandfather (paternal). He passed away in 2010 and he was a major force within our family. Anyway this candle made me think of him, because at Christmas he would always go out and get a fresh tree, so when you walked in the house whats all you smelled was that tree. I can see him at the door welcoming me in, while the strongest smell of pine hit me right in the face. To me its amazing for something so small to trigger such a vivid memory.
Make sure you check out the video below and I would love for you to leave me a comment and tell me what scents trigger what memories for you.
